Smoking Kids.

There's something a bit disturbing about these photos by
  Frieke Janssens
but I guess that's what grabs your attention. Well, it did for me, I find them really interesting.

"A picture has succeeded, when you can look at it for a while. It can not only just be beautiful neither only interesting. It needs both."

Free films!

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Newcastle decided to set up an outdoor cinema -
Pretty cool right? I've still always wanted to go to those outdoor cinemas, you know the one where you park up your car and watch the movie from there, so it's like rows of cars. Do they still do that? Or does it only exist in America?
I have this blurry memory from when I was about 8 years old and we went to Syria in the summer and I just remember this one time going to an outdoor cinema. It was this massive screen and hundreds of people had set up deck chairs and picnic blankets to watch this popular TV show. Of course this was all done in the evening because it was ridiculously hot in the day, but beautifully warm at night.

Lumiere 2011

A couple of weeks ago I went to go see Lumiere - a light festival in Durham (apparently the largest in the UK ooo la la). It's basically a bunch of cool artists/lighting designers displaying a little bit of magic all around the town, awwwh. Walking through the narrow cobbled streets really made me think I was walking through Diagon Alley
(yep I'm going to convince myself it's a real place).
But yeh, it was really nice actually just walking around trying to spot the next illuminated thing and sometimes not quite understanding it, but still standing there mmming and ahhing as if to say YES of course I know the deep meaning behind this...don't you?

If Carlsberg did snow globes....

Expectation is the root of all heartache.

I was walking back home the other day when I came across my mate Shakespeare.
He allowed me to take a photo of him and kept very still when I took it.
Lovely guy.
p.s if you any of you can't find your shoes, I think I've found them

Who's Hungry?

I'm aware that a lot of my posts seem to revolve around food - mainly baking, and I'm sorry! I do actually have other interests apart from stuffing my face and my laptop is being a bit shit/ it's still broken so it's been hard to find ways to upload photos, BUT I'm on it, so the next post won't be about food..promise....
Here's a couple of photos of the baking that goes on in the house.
Our flapjacks
Our lemon drizzzzzzzzzle cake

Fun Furniture.

Who says furniture has to be boring and civilised?
Well certainly not Marleen Jansen.
I guess it's one way of getting your children to the table, it just might be difficult for them to leave it.

Just make sure you tell the other person when you're done eating dinner because they'll end up on the flooooooor.

Caroline's Cakes.

A friend of mine (Caroline) made such a nice cake for her housemate's 21st.
I think she said that after she had made one of these delicious number cakes (like the one in the photo below), her friends now want one for their birthdays too!
Good job she likes baking (..and that she's good at it because, lets face it, that would be awkward..).

My laptop is dead.
It's all very tragic, but most of all, bloody inconvenient.
I'd feel a bit weird if I started saying sorry for not posting in ages because I can't really imagine anyone caring that much, but if you do I'm flattered and I'll make you a cake sometime.
But yeh basically I'll post some stuff soon because I miss updating my little blog. Boo hoo :(

the photo has nothing to do with anything, it just amused me.

Ready Steady Cook

Man I used to love that show, good ol' Ainsley Harriet shaking and dancing when he added spices to the pan, what is that man doing these days? Ok going off the point now (but seriously let me now if you find out). Also, this is really sad but I'm currently in my uni's library because I have no internet, so while I'm supposed to be doing this 'summer' project  (yes a project I should have done months ago and now doing in the last 4 days but hey details details) I've decided to update this blog.
Here's my attempt at cooking - actually no f*ck it, here IS my cooking and it WILL get better and more extravagant than enchiladas before the year is out! How empowering.
"Cooking is like love - difficult but worth it"

Ok I'm not gonna lie I totally just made that quote up. You really can make any bullshit look geniune when you put it in italics...

My new (but old) bag.

I really need to stop buying bags now, but here's my latest purchase to add to my  addiction  collection.
I found this cute little velvet bag for only £4, how can you say no?
No seriously, how can you say no? I need help.

Lovely Levitation.

Natsumi Hayashi
What does she like to do?
Yep, Natsumi likes to take photos of herself floating around Tokyo. Beats walking..
It's the way she keeps her face completely in control (none of that weird strained psycho smile we tend to do when taking the standard jumping photo). It's as if she's just naturally floating through the city like it's perfectly normal & everyone else has to make do with walking (unlucky).
It's simple and effortless - the best kind of photography.

Her blog entitled: yowayowa camera woman diary is really interesting to flick through.

For goodness' bake!

Baking is fun AND surprisingly easy (especially if it comes from a baking kit...shhhh)
Ok, so my mum found one those cake mixes in the cupboard so I thought why the hell not make some cakes
(I live on the edge I know)
Yeh it's kinda technically cheating, but there is still effort required I'll have you know! Opening packets with your HANDS, adding an egg with your HANDS...and erm..mixing with a SPOON..(a spoon I tell you!)
Well I'm exhausted.
Here's the result of my hard work:

They tasted goooooooood :)
Who else likes to bake?
I'm joking, calm down.
