Smoking Kids.

There's something a bit disturbing about these photos by
  Frieke Janssens
but I guess that's what grabs your attention. Well, it did for me, I find them really interesting.

"A picture has succeeded, when you can look at it for a while. It can not only just be beautiful neither only interesting. It needs both."

Free films!

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Newcastle decided to set up an outdoor cinema -
Pretty cool right? I've still always wanted to go to those outdoor cinemas, you know the one where you park up your car and watch the movie from there, so it's like rows of cars. Do they still do that? Or does it only exist in America?
I have this blurry memory from when I was about 8 years old and we went to Syria in the summer and I just remember this one time going to an outdoor cinema. It was this massive screen and hundreds of people had set up deck chairs and picnic blankets to watch this popular TV show. Of course this was all done in the evening because it was ridiculously hot in the day, but beautifully warm at night.

Lumiere 2011

A couple of weeks ago I went to go see Lumiere - a light festival in Durham (apparently the largest in the UK ooo la la). It's basically a bunch of cool artists/lighting designers displaying a little bit of magic all around the town, awwwh. Walking through the narrow cobbled streets really made me think I was walking through Diagon Alley
(yep I'm going to convince myself it's a real place).
But yeh, it was really nice actually just walking around trying to spot the next illuminated thing and sometimes not quite understanding it, but still standing there mmming and ahhing as if to say YES of course I know the deep meaning behind this...don't you?

If Carlsberg did snow globes....
