Intern at your service! (Part 2)

On the second day we relocated to Hackney Downs and the painting began! And let me tell you, there was a LOT of painting to do. As a group of about 5 we must have painted about 60 garden trellises. The photo below was taken at the end of day 3 and we were exhausted, but told that was the last of our trellis trauma! These would be used as cladding for the main stage and gazebo to create that american summer camp feel to it.
When there's people everywhere in high vis jackets setting up cabins, stages, sound tests and all you can see is planks of woods, piles of wires, boxes of antiques it's hard to imagine it all coming together in time for opening.
Even in the last few hours, the area looked completely different and it was amazing to see how it went from an empty park to an all american summer camp resort.
It's seriously impressive.

Intern at your service! (Part 1)

I was lucky enough to join the art department for Future Cinema for a week to help them set up for their Dirty Dancing event! Even though it involved a lot of moving, it meant I could have a sneaky
insight into how things progressed from concept to completion.
Surrounded by theatre chairs, plant pots, antique tables, records, mirrors, lampshades (including a furry lampshade) in this beautifully large old school, I couldn't wait to see how they would all play a part in just a matter of 5 days...

Cambridge Heath

I saw this on the side of a restaurant and I just thought there was something quite charming about it.

Festival fun.

When it comes to festivals, I can't say I'm an expert. So I'm going to say it, I am not an expert. Feeling a little too old to go some of the bigger festivals (and also broke as a joke but a really unfunny joke), me and a couple of close friends decided to head to Knee Deep Festival for the weekend.
Not only was it cheap and cheerful, everything had a cute handmade feel to it and you could actually enjoy some good music (at a festival? crazy i know)
Pfft who needs a Hollywood sign?

Got a little inventive with the nails, naturally colour coordinating of course ooo la la
Ended the trip with a nice trip to the beach to round off the weekend.
(and obviously a McDonalds drive thru shhh)

Switcheroo

Imagine switching clothes with your other half. Silly right? Yes and that's why I like it!

It's an ongoing project so click on the link to have a look at the rest. Some of the guys seem to work the dresses quite well...

Free Range!

So after a year of very hard work, I have finally graduated from uni with a degree in Interior Design!

The majority of my course took part in Free Range, which is basically an absolutely massive exhibition where everyone from all different universities come and show off their final year work in all areas of design. With people from the industry lurking about, I have to say I was more concerned about my parents with their smartphones out (honestly how do you get them to stop taking photos? any advice would be appreciated).

ANYWAY
Here's a rather dashing photo of me standing by my work! Wahey!

Dishoom.

Dishoom is a beautiful little Indian restaurant in Convent Garden. The photos do not do it justice, but honestly the interior is so nice - all the odd frames & hanging lights gives it a quirky feel and the price for food is pretty reasonable for London too!
I went there for a light lunch with my sister and we ordered some sort of potato kinda burger thing, it was perfect. HOWEVER, I stupidly decided to eat half a green chilli without realising the consequences would mean slowly panicking in a public place that my mouth might possibly be ON FIRE.
Yep, lesson learnt.
Just moments before the dreaded chilli incident.

Share the love.

OK ok I know I'm a bit late on the whole 'Valentines Day' thing so I apologize. I'm pretty sure that it should be renamed to 'Moaning Day' but hey I don't make the rules (who does? is there a number I can call?)
ANYWAY, to me Valentines Day is always a good day because it's my dad's birthday. It's a win win for my parents really, I mean mum can pretend she's going out for a romantic meal while dad can believe he's going out for his birthday. Not bad eh?
The birthday card I made.

Well hello Butterscotch pie, nice to eat you.

Girls.

I wasn't sure at first, but it definitely grows on you with each episode and I love the cast. It's straight to the point, odd, strangely honest, sarcastic and crude. Now I'm annoyingly up to speed with America and have to wait for each episode to be released. Boo Hoo :(

Long time no see.

Wow. Have I really not updated this blog since September? My bad, I need to get back on this, I guess third year is a bitch consuming all my time. There's always time for baking though so it's fine.
So say hello to my chocolate pie.
I won't discuss the recipe because it's extremely unhealthy and I can't have you judging me.
